Marblehead, Massachusetts – Another Country Productions and Marblehead Little Theatre will be holding non-equity auditions on Sunday, February 9, from 6-10 p.m. for the April production of “Diverse Voices in Theatre: SLAMBoston Slams the North Shore!”
This production is a multi-cultural and diverse theater slam in which 10 ten-minute plays compete for a cash prize. Audience participation with five judges and raucous cheering makes this theater experience not only replete with great plays, but also wildly fun. Called the “hit of the week” by Larry Stark of Theatre Mirror, SLAMBoston has played to sold out audiences in Boston, Provincetown and Burlington, Vermont, since 2003. After more than 30 performances, it is now coming to the North Shore for the first time, in a collaboration between Another Country Productions and Marblehead Little Theatre.
“We encourage all actors to audition as well as focusing on representing people of color, the LGBTQ community, women and people living with disabilities,” said Andrew Barnett, co-producer. “Our organizations believe all stories deserve to be heard and are committed to telling them.”
Auditions are by appointment in groups of up to 10 actors every half hour starting at 6 p.m. on February 9.
