The Essex County Artist Fund is Essex County Community Foundation’s response to the immediate and everyday needs of artists to be supported and lifted up across the county and across sectors. At ECCF, our philosophy is to build a creative ecosystem focused on awareness and appreciation for arts and culture, capacity building, collaboration, and cultural planning. Individual artists and arts/culture organizations are key to this network. www.eccf.org/creative-county.
Artist Name: Kathryn Delaney – Lawrence

Creative Practice: My creative practice is a combination of illustration, graphic design, and sign painting. I create commercial artwork for restaurants and small businesses, as well as illustrative designs for organizations and events. This work is often in the form of signage, menus, merchandise, packaging, web design, event marketing, and interior spaces. I work in a variety of mediums, illustrating digitally on my i-Pad, painting with watercolor or exterior enamel, as well as creating interior embellishments with resin, wood, and found objects. I find the variety of materials important for my creative development, because I see creativity as connecting experiences and creating unique solutions.
Artist Statement: My artwork has served the Merrimack Valley community through the interior spaces I’ve created at El Taller Coffee Shop & Bookstore, through brightly painted murals at Cafe Azteca, Bueno Malo, and Japu. My illustrations & designs have helped promote the Essex Art Center’s Annual New Paint Gala, Andover Bread Loaf’s Teacher Network, Conferences and Summer Writing Programs, the Lawrence History Center, as well as the Bread & Roses Heritage Festival events. Many of these organizations focus on the social and environmental well being of the community through art, writing, history and sharing ideas.
