The Essex County Artist Fund is Essex County Community Foundation’s response to the immediate and everyday needs of artists to be supported and lifted up across the county and across sectors. Artist Statement: Recent commissions and educational residencies have focused on raising awareness of ocean conservation (“Echoes In The Deep” accompanied by whale song), involving every student in a musical program performing together at the same time onstage (Rockport, Ipswich, Melrose), and using music to advocate for positive change and facilitating conversations about diversity through the Music of Difference project.
