Bernstein, Prokofiev and Shakespeare: Tales of Romeo and Juliet

The tale of Romeo and Juliet has been adapted  by artists of all kinds since Shakespeare brought the star-crossed lovers to life. This concert shares two musical interpretations of the story: selections from Prokofiev’s ballet of the same name and selections from Bernstein’s West Side Story. The concert is also a nod to the centennial of Bernstein’s birth. Music professor Mary-Jo Grenfell conducts.

The evening includes a pre-concert discussion at 6:30 about Bernstein’s West Side Story
