Judy Anderson: 18th Century Women & Children, Servants & Slaves in the Lee Mansions

Learn about the enigmatic women and children, along with the servants and slaves who made up the Lee household.

This illustrated talk will introduce the enigmatic women and children of the Lee family, including some less familiar material about the spouses and offspring of four of their children who grew to adulthood, of nine born over 16 years during their 30 years of marriage.

Colonel Lee’s wife, Martha Swett, was a younger half-sister of King Hooper’s second and principal wife of 28 years, Ruth Swett.
Each had lost her mother, though not their father, by age seven, with three younger siblings
