Judy Anderson: "“The Five Mansions of Colonel Lee and ‘King’ Hooper”

In honor of the Marblehead Museum’s 250th  anniversary celebration for the completion of  the Jeremiah Lee Mansion (1766 to 1768) and noting the 290th  anniversary of the Robert “King” Hooper Mansion (1728/30 & 1747/50), social, cultural and architectural historian Judy Anderson will present an illustrated talk about four principal Marblehead mansions and one beyond (formerly in Danvers) that were owned by and/or lived in by Col. Jeremiah Lee (1721 – 1775) and Robert Hooper Esquire (1709  – 1790) between 1730 and 1791.  The talk will also reference a fine brick Georgian-style mansion that had been built for one of Hooper’s sons, a flaming Tory with an inflammatory story, but was torn down a century after King Hooper’s death in 1790.
