Join us for a marathon reading of one of American literature’s central works, Leaves of Grass, in honor of Walt Whitman’s 200th birthday this year.
In honor of the bicentennial of one of America’s greatest poets, Walt Whitman, the Salem Athenaeum is hosting a marathon reading of his seminal work, Leaves of Grass.
All are welcome to participate! Come and contribute a verse, if you wish, or sit, listen and enjoy with us!
Dr. Sue Weaver Schopf will present opening remarks and then we will read aloud from the first edition of Leaves of Grass (1855).
Stay as long as you like–for the whole reading or just for a few minutes.
