Love is LOVE!

The Newburyport Art Association and the Firehouse Center for the Arts co-present Love is LOVE!, a curated exhibit of 32 artworks that celebrates love in its many fabulous forms and shines a light on the artful joy of our community. Featuring 30 artists working in acrylic, drawing, oil, pastel, photography, printmaking, and mixed media, this pop-up show takes place at the Institution for Savings Gallery at the Firehouse from February 12th through March 28th.

This artistic partnership between the NAA and the Firehouse Center for the Arts was inspired by a desire to collaboratively create a warm, welcoming, and vibrant arts experience that the public could visit safely through the cold days of February and March – months made even more challenging this year by the continuing pandemic – while activating the Firehouse lobby and Institution for Savings Gallery and providing additional exhibition space for NAA artists.

The exhibition was co-curated by Wanda Strukus, Executive Director of the Newburyport Art Association and John Moynihan, Executive Director of the Firehouse Center for the arts, and the works were selected based on both the strength of the art and creative engagement with the theme “Love is Love.” The curators sought to offer wide and diverse representations of love, and the artworks provide interpretations that are poetic, cheeky, abstract, amiable, soothing, tense, unrequited, effervescent, ambivalent, surprising, romantic, and joyful.

The Institution for Savings Gallery is located at the Firehouse Center for the Arts, 1 Market Square, and is open Thursday through Sunday, 12pm to 5pm.
