ust as they did when on tour with him, the show features classic Prince & the NPG songs like Cream, Sexy MF, Gett Off, Diamonds & Pearls, Gold and The Good Life intermingled with songs from throughout the legendary artist’s illustrious career like Nothing Compares 2 U, “1999,” “Let’s Go Crazy,” “Pop Life,” “The Cross,” “Purple Rain,” “U Got the Look,” and “Kiss.” Prince was known for being a consummate live performer and his concerts with the NPG were known for their tight arrangements as well as their stellar, funky sound and electrifying pace. Respecting the music continues to be the driving force of the NPG and their commitment to perform as if their famous boss was front and center is evident. The NPG formally reunited in late 2016 after Prince’s former keyboardist and Musical Director Morris Hayes – best known for being the longest-running member of the NPG – was tapped for the same job at the official Prince Tribute concert put on by the estate in October 2016. Hayes brought the original band members together to serve as the house band for the epic concert that celebrated the life and music of Prince Rogers Nelson in a wild & purple five-hour ride. The response from fans was overwhelmingly in favor of bringing a scaled down version of the musical tribute to other cities around the world as it served to be both a celebration and a healing.
