The Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras (NMYO) present their first performance of the season on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at 3:00 pm at the First Church of Ipswich, Ipswich, MA. The public is invited to this annual event which benefits the Thanksgiving Food Baskets distributed to families in need.
Performances by NMYO’s Intermezzo Orchestra, Prelude String Ensemble, Overture String Ensemble, and Flute Choir are featured. This family-friendly concert is a great way to expose children to classical music while teaching them about helping neighbors in the community.
Presented in collaboration with the First Church, a suggested $5 cash donation will be collected with all proceeds being donated to the Thanksgiving Basket project.
“This concert is an excellent way for our young musicians to understand that there are people in need and we can help through performing our music,” says NMYO Music Director Gerald Dolan.
One of NMYO’s goals is to serve diverse audiences through performance and outreach. The musicians and conductors of NMYO are proud to be a part of this opportunity to serve the local community.
The First Church of Ipswich is located at One Meeting House Green, Ipswich, MA. This concert is open to the public and all are welcome. This concert is sponsored in part by the Demoulas Foundation, Nathaniel and Elizabeth P. Stevens Foundation, Coburn Charitable Society, and Ipswich Cultural Council. NMYO’s Season Sponsors are Cape Ann Savings Bank, Carriage House Violins of Johnson String Instrument, Institution for Savings, and the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
NMYO provides youth musicians with exceptional ensemble training and opportunities for personal growth through musical performance and community service. Led by Music Director Gerald J. Dolan Jr., with an accomplished team of music professionals, NMYO’s 170 musicians come from more than 50 towns throughout northeast Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire and participate in one of seven ensembles offered by the program. The regular rehearsal and concert schedule is supplemented with master classes, enrichment days, chamber music coaching, community service outreach concerts to underserved populations, and a composer in residence program. You too can join NMYO! Rehearsals are held weekly just off I-95 and Route 1 in Topsfield/Boxford. NMYO is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. LEARN MORE – nmyo.org · info@nmyo.org · 978-309-9833
