About the band:
Rule of 3 is a 3-piece acoustic band from the North Shore of Boston. The band has built its reputation on its strong 3-part harmonies and lively shows that tend to turn into sing-alongs. Comprised of guitarist Paul Carr, bassist Richard Marino and drummer Pat Seitz, the band covers an eclectic variety of songs from the ’60s through the ’80s. Tunes like The Beatles’ “A Day in the Life,” Chicago’s “Beginnings,” The Bee Gees’ “How Deep Is Your Love,” Spiral Staircase’s “I Love You More Than Yesterday,” Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young’s “Love The One You’re With,” Badfinger’s “No Matter What” or Orleans’ “Dance With Me” thrill audiences throughout Boston’s North Shore and beyond.
In 2017, Rule of 3 was invited to be the opening band for Sal Valentinetti in his only Boston area performance. The audience was incredibly enthusiastic and energized and Sal & his orchestra could not have been more supportive of the bands opening of the show. Rule of 3 is excited to take the stage at The Cabot, and honored to be asked once again to be the opening act for such a talented performer.
Guitarist Paul Carr, the son of Jazz bassist John Carr, has been a fixture in the Boston music scene for over three decades. “Because all three of us are playing instruments and singing at the same time, Rule of 3 is able to create a fuller sound than you would normally expect from a 3-piece band,” states Carr.
Bassist Rich Marino (who is the proprietor of Chianti Ristorante across from The Cabot) had a grammar school singing scholarship to the Boston Archdiocese Choir School where he had the opportunity to perform with the likes of the Boston Symphony and the Boston Pops. “We grew up in an era of great harmony songs. Well written songs, a strong performance, and an appreciative audience are the recipes for an enjoyable evening,” says Rich.
Drummer Pat Seitz developed his chops while playing the rock band scene in his native Philadelphia. “Rule of 3 is a result of the life-long passion for music and entertainment that we all shared individually and which turned into something much bigger, when we formed this band,” says Pat.
