Cape Ann Art Haven is a community space where artists of all ages and abilities are encouraged to develop creativity and confidence through hands-on learning and collaboration. The organization was founded in 2008 by 19-year-old Gloucester David Brooks who noticed the arts were systemically being cut from schools and he wanted to do something about it. He dropped out of college to open a community art space where children could take art classes regardless of whether they could pay or not.
Since opening, Art Haven has offered classes for kids and adults in pottery, clay building, photography, mural painting, painting, drawing, and more.
For the last eight years, Cape Ann Art Haven has experienced tremendous growth mostly through community participation and support. We remain committed to serving any child regardless of their ability to pay, offering subsidized programming and scholarships to make art education available to all children.
We are proud to continue serving the Cape Ann community and are as committed to our original mission as ever. We continue to build on our offerings, integrating new media and design, professional skills, exposure to art history and core skills-building experiences into our art programs.
