North Shore Juneteenth Association Began in 2017. There was a need to celebrate Black American culture in our community. The North Shore is a very diverse place and to expand on that richness the addition of programming and events that speak to the positive contributions of African Americans was necessary. North Shore Juneteenth Association organized its first Juneteenth Celebration in 2017. Juneteenth is a state holiday and became a holiday in the state of Massachusetts in 2007. The holiday commemorates the ending of slavery and celebrates African American achievement. Since 2017 N.S.J.A has added more events to its annual roster in hopes to expand the knowledge of African American culture North of Boston.
