Castle Hill on the Crane Estate is a National Historic Landmark owned and cared for by The Trustees. It is the former summer estate of Chicago industrialist Richard T. Crane, Jr. and his family. Each summer (1910-1949) the Crane family entertained guests on this magnificent property that featured gardens; a saltwater swimming pool; a maze; and the Grand Allee, a 1/2 mile rolling lawn lined with hedgerows and statuary.
